Leeds College of Building appoints Lovell training expert to board of governors

Leeds College of Building – the UK's only specialist further and higher education construction college – has appointed Sharon Jarvis, who is a regional training manager with national affordable housing specialist Lovell, to its board of governors. As a governor of the 8,000-student College, Sharon will help oversee its work delivering a wide range of building and construction courses at all levels.

Sharon joined Lovell in 2001 and has wide-ranging expertise in construction training and staff development in the built environment sector. In her current role, she is based at the Lovell regional office in Leeds and leads training activities across Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and East Anglia. Lovell specialises in developing open market and affordable housing as well as delivering housing regeneration and refurbishment schemes and providing maintenance services.

Sharon's position with Leeds College of Building is a voluntary appointment which she will combine with her role at Lovell. Rosaline Scanlan, executive director - support services at Leeds College of Building, says: "We are delighted that Sharon has joined the board of governors at the College, as her experience and background can offer a great deal in supporting the students and helping to ensure the College offers a first class service to them and to industry. This is a very exciting time for the College with the opening of our new campus in January 2015 which will offer excellent training facilities for the future in a modern and vibrant environment."

Sharon says: "Leeds College of Building has a fantastic and well-deserved local and national reputation for excellence in construction training. I'm thrilled to have been selected to join its governing body and look forward to helping support its continuing success as a leading provider of high-quality building and construction courses."
