Lovell set for £13.5 million Leicester estate regeneration

Morgan Sindall’s affordable housing and regeneration business Lovell is set to build a £13.5 million mixed tenure housing development as part of the ongoing regeneration of the Beaumont Leys area in Leicester.

A total of 135 houses, apartments and bungalows will be built by Lovell on land previously owned by Leicester City Council.

The new development will create 95 homes for open market sale. In addition, Lovell is building 40 homes – 24 for shared ownership and 16 for affordable rent – for housing and regeneration group Midland Heart. The new housing will be on four sites and includes two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom houses, two-bedroom flats, one six-bedroom house and a number of homes built to full mobility standards for residents who use wheelchairs.

Lovell will also create new roads and footpaths, provide two play areas within the development and carry out landscaping work. The company will be working closely with the Leicester North West Community Forum throughout the construction programme.

The first new homes are set to be completed by November of this year with the overall scheme scheduled to be finished in May 2010.
