Morgan Ashurst kickstarts Liverpool BSF with £18 million contract win

Morgan Sindall’s construction business Morgan Ashurst has won an £18 million contract to build a replacement for Alsop High School in Walton – the first scheme in the £485 million Liverpool Building Schools for the Future programme.

The company has been appointed by Liverpool City Council to build a 5,500 sq m teaching and activity block which will include a dance studio, areas for dining and socialising, classrooms with retractable walls and bright, open atrium areas.

Morgan Ashurst will also refurbish an existing 1926 Grade-II listed building to improve teaching facilities for maths and science, as well as provide landscaped areas and remove redundant mobile classrooms.

The new school is due to be completed in January 2011.
