Morgan Sindall’s construction business Morgan Ashurst has been awarded a £20.2 million contract to carry out the third and final phase of construction work as part of the redevelopment of HMP Perth for the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
The works, which have been designed by Morgan Sindall’s design, engineering and project management specialist Morgan Professional Services (MPS), will include the creation of a new purpose-built visitor complex which will house waiting areas, as well as open and closed visit space. Staff facilities, which will incorporate a dining, lounge and gym area, will also be constructed.
In addition, Morgan Ashurst will be refurbishing an existing administration building and gatehouse complex. An estates building will also be transformed into a temporary visitor facility, while an existing hall will be demolished to make way for a new estates building.
The company will also create a new access road, visitor car park and perimeter security wall. The work is due to be completed in spring 2010.
