Working at the University’s Whiteknights Campus, the company will build two new student residences which will house 965 study bedrooms and two warden flats. The buildings will be split over four to six storeys. Morgan Ashurst will also build a new catering building, a student launderette, and office facilities as part of the scheme.
Construction is due to be completed in September 2010.
“Public sector demand in the education market where we have developed a strong position, remains healthy,” says Paul Smith, Morgan Sindall’s chief executive. “This latest announcement is further evidence of our ability to benefit from this trend.”
The University of Reading award follows Morgan Ashurst securing a £25 million scheme to build student accommodation and refurbish science laboratories for the University of Leeds.
