Morgan Ashurst wins £8.8 million Derbyshire leisure centre contract

Morgan Sindall’s construction business Morgan Ashurst has been awarded an £8.8 million contract by Derbyshire Dales District Council to build the eco-friendly Central Area Leisure Centre (CALC) in Matlock, Derbyshire.

The company is constructing a 2,500 sq m leisure centre that will include a fitness suite, an eight-lane swimming pool with moveable floor to meet county level competition requirements, and a multi-functional sports hall. The hall, which will meet regional and county badminton standards, will also be suitable for hockey, basketball, volleyball, five-a-side football, netball, gymnastics and cricket. A second hall will accommodate aerobics, dance, fitness classes, martial arts, parties, table tennis and yoga.

The complex is due for completion in May 2011.
