Morgan Sindall’s infrastructure services business Morgan Est has been awarded a £12 million contract by BAA to resurface the main runway at Edinburgh Airport.
Working on a night-shift basis Morgan Est’s paving team will lay around 25,000 tonnes of new asphalt and replace around 1,000 runway lights. As a result of the work, flights taking off or landing at night will do so from the airport’s second runway.
Jag Paddam, Morgan Est managing director for infrastructure, says: “Our dedicated paving team are looking forward to starting work on such an important project. We are currently carrying out a £5 million scheme to provide three stands for passenger aircrafts at Edinburgh Airport and this latest contract win for our client, BAA, further strengthens our presence in the air sector.”
Work at Edinburgh Airport begins in March 2008 and is due to be completed in November 2008.
