Morgan Sindall Group plc’s performance in carbon disclosure as the UK’s top performing construction company earned it a place in the CDP’s 2014 UK Corporate Environmental Report, published on 17th October 2014. The British-based construction and regeneration Group achieved a disclosure score of 97 (an improvement of 6 points on last year) and a performance grade B, placing it in the top performers listing for the third consecutive year.
This achievement ensured that the Group retains a place in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The CDLI recognises the highest scoring companies for disclosure, with only the top 10% highest scores of the 248 respondents eligible for inclusion in it. In 2012 Morgan Sindall Group became the first non-FTSE 350 company ever to be included in the Index. The Group has maintained a presence in the Index ever since.
CDP is an international, not-for-profit organisation providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information. CDP works with market forces, including 767 institutional investors with assets of US$92 trillion, to motivate companies to disclose their impacts on the environment and natural resources and take action to reduce them. CDP now holds the largest collection globally of primary climate change, water and forest risk commodities information and puts these insights at the heart of strategic business, investment and policy decisions.
Speaking of the achievement, Brian Handcock, Head of Sustainability at Morgan Sindall Group said:
“I am delighted that we have maintained our position in the CDLI for a third year in succession. We work hard to manage and monitor our carbon and to have improved on our score of last year is very gratifying, as it shows that our efforts are producing positive results. We will continue to strive to further reduce our emissions and to manage carbon across the Group.”
