Morgan Sindall Group plc has been announced as the top scoring construction company in the CDP FTSE 350 Climate Change Report 2013. The British based construction and regeneration group achieved a disclosure score of 91 and a performance grade B.
This achievement maintained the Group's place on the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) table, the only non-FTSE-350 business to be listed in the index. The CDLI recognises the highest scoring companies for disclosure, with only the top 10% highest scores of the 260 respondents eligible for inclusion in it.
Morgan Sindall Group improved its 2012 CDP score by a total of 5 points and maintained its B grade in this year’s disclosure compared to the average FTSE100 score of 81/B. Morgan Sindall Group remains the highest scoring UK construction company and the only participant from the sector in the CDLI.
The CDP is an independent not-for-profit organisation which works with thousands of companies to drive the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable water use. Providing a global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose and share environmental information, CDP allows market forces to be a major cause of change in striving towards a more sustainable future.
Speaking of the achievement, Brian Handcock, Head of Sustainability said “Measuring, reducing and reporting our carbon emissions remains one of our key sustainability focus areas as set out in our Total Commitments.
We are again delighted to have maintained our position in the CDLI with a score of 91/B, leading the UK construction sector. As ever, this is a reflection of the hard work and effort our projects and teams put into identifying and managing the risks associated with climate change and management of our emissions.”
