Morgan Sindall JV secures £235 million Crossrail contract

BBMV, a joint venture company featuring Morgan Sindall, the construction, infrastructure and design business of the Morgan Sindall Group, has been awarded the Crossrail Whitechapel and Liverpool Street Station Tunnels contract.

The project, which is valued at £235 million, covers the construction of all station tunnels and associated works at the respective sites and forms an integral part of the wider Crossrail scheme. Work is expected to commence in February 2011 and will take approximately five years to complete.

Morgan Sindall holds an approximate 30 per cent stake in BBMV, which also comprises ALPINE BeMo Tunnelling, Balfour Beatty and VINCI Construction. All four businesses have a solid record of delivering major infrastructure schemes in London and throughout the world and will jointly provide the full range of skills, resources and technical expertise required for this complex project.

“I am delighted that we have won this contract,” says Paul Smith, chief executive of Morgan Sindall Group plc. “The award demonstrates the Group’s leading-edge skills in tunnel engineering and the fact that we are part of a very strong joint venture which has extensive construction capabilities.”
