Through its partnership with Rolls-Royce plc, Muse is currently creating a new mixed-use development in Nottinghamshire, creating a host of benefits for the local community and economy.
Located on a former airfield site in Hucknall, this mixed-use scheme includes a 77-acre residential development and a 69 acre commercial business park. A key aim of the investment project is to maximise the benefits for the local area. With this in mind, an Employment and Skills Plan (ESP) is being used. This will ensure that the needs and objectives of local stakeholders are identified at an early stage and reviewed throughout the life of the project.
In order to strengthen the economy of the surrounding area and widen the regeneration impact, Muse is implementing a number of local labour objectives. This will create a significant number of job opportunities for Hucknall residents, both during construction and in the long term, once the development is complete. To achieve this, Muse is engaging with locally based contractors and sub-contractors, setting up occupier training schemes in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and coordinating with an Employment Liaison Officer. Locally based subcontractors will be used wherever possible.
Dan Needham, Muse’s regional director based in Leeds said: “This project has the potential to become one of the success stories for the East Midlands region in the coming years bringing many new jobs, new business and a new community to Hucknall."
