Delivering on the bold vision which inspired it

Loftus Garden Village is a development of 250 homes. 60% of these are classed as affordable. It is a multi-tenure scheme which fully blends social, intermediate and market rent with homes for outright sale and shared ownership.

Loftus was created with the aim of turning a derelict piece of land in the heart of Newport into a place where people would actively choose to live.

The award winning, vibrant neighbourhood has brought new life to the former Pirelli Cables Factory site with its Arts and Crafts-style homes and imaginatively landscaped setting.

Lovell Partnerships works with local authorities that are committed to enhancing local communities. Through community consultation, Lovell created and much loved new Garden Village of affordable homes for today and future generations.

Involving and engaging the local community was integral to the development of the Garden Village project. Including involving local schools in creative hoarding design, construction career engagement and regular community open site days.

Social value

An integrated approach was taken in partnership with our supply chain to support charitable causes. Working together with our piling contractor, Lovell piled pink foundations for Cancer Research Wales.

Lovell also worked closely with Newport Communities First to ensure that training and employment initiatives were tailored to those who most needed access employment opportunities.

Lovell's priority was considerate construction, while reducing waste and energy consumption.

  • 10,000m3 of crushed stone was reused on site
  • 'Zero Waste' pilot scheme was operated on the project
  • Wastewater was reused and filtered
  • Construction waste was hand-picked for segregation and recycling
